« God gave Paul the power to perform unusual miracles »
11 God continued to do extraordinary miracles through Paul.
12 When handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched his skin were taken to the sick, their diseases left them and evil spirits went out of them.
13 Then some Jews who went around trying to drive out demons attempted to use the name of the Lord Jesus on those who had evil spirits, saying, “I command you by that Jesus whom Paul preaches!”
14 Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this.
15 But the evil spirit told them, “Jesus I know, and I am getting acquainted with Paul, but who are you?”
16 Then the man with the evil spirit jumped on them, got the better of them, and so violently overpowered all of them that they fled out of the house naked and bruised.
Beyond making you a wonder, God can decide to use you as a vessel through whom He will be doing wonders on earth.
This is one thing every believer should pursue.
In Acts 5:12-16, the Bible tells us about the great wonders that God performed through the apostles and how He even healed the sick through Peter’s shadow.
If the shadow of a man begins to heal the sick, definitely that man has become a vessel for wonders.
- If you want to become a vessel for wonders, you will have to really deny yourself of many things.
Apostle Paul was without any doubt a vessel for wonders because his handkerchiefs and aprons worked miracles. 1 Corinthians 10:23NLT says
« You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial »
If you want God to do wonders for you, you have to stay away from anything that is considered unlawful;
however, if you want Him to do wonders through you, you have to stay away from even things that are lawful but not expedient.
It is not unlawful to eat, but when you want Him to do wonders through you, fasting will become a regular practice for you.
It is not unlawful to spend good time with friends chatting, but for those who God will do wonders through, they will spend more time with Him praying and studying their Bible than they spend with other people.
They will give of their substance so much that people will say they are running crazy, they will serve in His house like they are being paid millions; in all, they will give themselves totally to God.
These are the kinds of people through whom God will do wonders.
- Moses, the man through whom God parted the Red Sea, spent more time on the mountain than below it.
Indeed, he was so accustomed to the presence of God that the spoke to Him face to face Exodus 33:11.
- Elijah – the man who called down fire on Mount Carmel and shut the heavens over Israel for three years was always found on the mountain 2 Kings 1:9.
You have to offer yourself as a living sacrifice unto God Romans 12:1 if you want Him to do wonders through you.
Application – If you really want God to do wonders through you, be prepared to pay the price.
