« But when good people start sinning and doing disgusting things, will they live? No! All their good deeds will be forgotten, and they will be put to death because of their sins »
20 The person who sins is the one who will die. The child will not be punished for the parent’s sins, and the parent will not be punished for the child’s sins. Righteous people will be rewarded for their own righteous behavior, and wicked people will be punished for their own wickedness.
21 But if wicked people turn away from all their sins and begin to obey my decrees and do what is just and right, they will surely live and not die.
22 All their past sins will be forgotten, and they will live because of the righteous things they have done.
23 “Do you think that I like to see wicked people die? says the Sovereign Lord. Of course not! I want them to turn from their wicked ways and live.
24 However, if righteous people turn from their righteous behavior and start doing sinful things and act like other sinners, should they be allowed to live? No, of course not! All their righteous acts will be forgotten, and they will die for their sins.
25 “Yet you say, ‘The Lord isn’t doing what’s right!’ Listen to me, O people of Israel. Am I the one not doing what’s right, or is it you?
26 When righteous people turn from their righteous behavior and start doing sinful things, they will die for it. Yes, they will die because of their sinful deeds.
27 And if wicked people turn from their wickedness, obey the law, and do what is just and right, they will save their lives.
28 They will live because they thought it over and decided to turn from their sins. Such people will not die.
29 And yet the people of Israel keep saying, ‘The Lord isn’t doing what’s right!’ O people of Israel, it is you who are not doing what’s right, not I.
30 “Therefore, I will judge each of you, O people of Israel, according to your actions, says the Sovereign Lord. Repent, and turn from your sins. Don’t let them destroy you!
31 Put all your rebellion behind you, and find yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O people of Israel?
32 I don’t want you to die, says the Sovereign Lord. Turn back and live!
Another reason I am determined never to backslide is that if I do, the record of everything I have ever done for God would be erased.
The Bible says in Ezekiel 18:24 ERV
« “Now, maybe good people might stop being good.
They might change their lives and begin to do all the terrible things that evil people have done in the past. (The evil people changed, so they can live.)
So if those good people change and become bad,
God will not remember all the good things they did.
He will remember that they turned against him and began to sin.
So they will die because of their sin »
It does not matter how far you have gone in your Christian race, how many souls you have won for God or how many Churches you have planted; the moment you become a backslider, everything you have done before would not be mentioned. Ecclesiastes 7:8BSB tells us
« Finishing is better than starting »
It means one individual can serve God all their life and then backslide just one month before they die and he/she would end up in hell.
Don’t you want to make it to heaven, live in your glorious mansion and see the Lord Jesus Christ whom you have served for so long?
Why would you let one little temptation deny you of that glorious experience and make you end up in the hands of the devil?
In case you are not aware, there will be many evangelists in hell; some church workers and even ministers will end up in hell.
If you don’t believe me, read Matthew 7:21-23.
I pray you will not be one of such, in Jesus’ name.
What is the use of serving God so much here on earth and still ending up in the same place that unbelievers will end up in?
You had better put aside every sin that draws you back in your Christian race and face God squarely.
« Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who by faith have testified to the truth of God’s absolute faithfulness], stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us, »
What is that sin that is so alluring to you?
Believe me honestly, it is not as valuable as your soul.
Protect your soul and run away from sin.
