« Jesus said, “I am the vine, and you are the branches. If you stay joined to Me, and I stay joined to you, then you will produce lots of fruit. But you cannot do anything without Me. »
1 And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we dwell with you is too small for us.
2 Please, let us go to the Jordan, and let every man take a beam from there, and let us make there a place where we may dwell.” So he answered, “Go.”
3 Then one said, “Please consent to go with your servants.” And he answered, “I will go.”
4 So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees.
5 But as one was cutting down a tree, the iron ax head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, “Alas, master! For it was borrowed.”
6 So the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” And he showed him the place. So he cut off a stick, and threw it in there; and he made the iron float.
7 Therefore he said, “Pick it up for yourself.” So he reached out his hand and took it.
Revival comes through total obedience to the word of God.
This is why the Bible admonishes us to preach the word and spread the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ as a matter of urgency.
However, Christians should wait to be sent forth and must never go alone, that is, without the Holy Spirit. Luke 24:49 NLT says:
« And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven. »
Romans 10:17 NLT says
« faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ »
At the hearing of the word of God, the corrupt and sinful mind immediately begins to do a self-analysis, followed by personal conviction and repentance. Romans 10:14 says
« how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them? »
However, all these will not yield the desired results unless the work is accompanied by the power of the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8 CEV says:
« But the Holy Spirit will come upon you and give you power. Then you will tell everyone about me in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria, and everywhere in the world. »
As we strive to populate the Church building, we must remember our greater duty to prepare the people of God for heaven through the correct and unbiased teaching of the word of God.
As you make up your mind to live in obedience to His word and take every opportunity to share the Gospel with at least one person daily, do not go without the Holy Spirit.
Every Christian needs the help of the Holy Spirit to fulfill the will of God for his/her life.
As you earnestly seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit, your prayers will be answered, in the mighty name of Jesus.
Prayer focus – Father, please fill me with the power of the Holy Ghost to win souls for Christ, in the mighty name of Jesus.
