« But remember the LORD your God, because He is the one who gives you the ability to produce wealth, in order to confirm His covenant that He promised by an oath to your ancestors, as is the case today »
11 “But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today.
12 For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in,
13 and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful!
14 Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt.
15 Do not forget that he led you through the great and terrifying wilderness with its poisonous snakes and scorpions, where it was so hot and dry. He gave you water from the rock!
16 He fed you with manna in the wilderness, a food unknown to your ancestors. He did this to humble you and test you for your own good.
17 He did all this so you would never say to yourself, ‘I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy.’
18 Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.
There are abundant blessings in the Kingdom of God.
It therefore means that it is a wise decision to seek His Kingdom in perfect obedience of the word of God (Matthew 6:33). Deuteronomy 8:18 NASB says
« But you are to remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, in order to confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day »
Many people think that a life of holiness is one of poverty.
This is a lie of the devil and unfortunately, he has succeeded in making many people believe that unless they serve him, they cannot be successful in life.
Interestingly, he also tried to deceive the Lord Jesus Christ with this same lie, but the Lord defeated him (Luke 4:5-7). 2 Corinthians 8:9 NLT says
« You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, so that by His poverty He could make you rich »
Beloved, there are abundant blessings in our Lord Jesus Christ – I am a living testimony of this.
For example, before I gave my life to Christ, I used to borrow money from my own driver to fuel my car two weeks into the new month. It was after I gave my life to Christ that I began to know the true meaning of prosperity.
The Psalmist says that unless the Lord builds the house, the builders only labor in vain (Psalm 127:1).
Apostle Paul corroborates this in 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 GWT by saying
« 6 I planted, and Apollos watered, but God made it grow. 7 So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is important because ONLY God makes it grow »
One of my children-in-the-Lord trusted in his ability to work hard so he made a habit of always working overtime. However, he still could not make ends meet in spite of being a child of God. His situation later changed positively when he realized that God has to bless the work of our hands for us to be truly successful.
It is only God who blesses without adding sorrow (Proverbs 10:22).
Seek Him genuinely today and He will give you the power to get wealth with no sorrow in it.
Prayer focus – Thank You, Lord for giving me the power to get wealth. I declare that I am blessed of the Lord, in Jesus’ name.
