« So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. »
9 Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin (fornicators, mastubators), or who worship idols (love of material things, ostentatious), or commit adultery, or are prostitutes, or practice homosexuality,
10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will make it to Heaven.
11 Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
In the Bible reading of today we see terrible things that man does on earth.
However, being born of water and of the Spirit brings about a change, that is, divine transformation (John 3:3).
John the Beloved said something deeper concerning this spiritual new birth in 1 John 5:6 NLT
« And Jesus Christ was revealed as God’s Son by his baptism in water and by shedding his blood on the cross—not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit, who is truth, confirms it with his testimony »
The mystery of the new birth cannot be understood except through the Spirit of God.
In the same epistle of John we read 1 John 3:8-9 NLT:
« 8 But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. 9 Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God »
There are two main steps by which we can experience this divine transformation: genuine repentance when a person voluntarily submits his or her will to the Lord, and the power in the blood of Jesus Christ – being sanctified by the power in the blood of the new covenant that is far superior to the blood of animals. Hebrews 10:4 NKJV
« For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins »
Therefore, for divine transformation, Jesus Christ is the answer.
Every born-again child of God must pass through the process of change and become transformed, irrespective of how morally upright such a person may have been before salvation.
That heart that has hitherto been trained to view things in the way of the world must be renewed and tutored to henceforth view things spiritually, in line with the will of God.
Romans 12:2 NLT says
« Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. »
May the Lord – the Greatest Transformer, start the required change in your life today, in Jesus’ name.
Prayer focus: Father, please cleanse me from all impurities and transform my life, that I may reflect Your image, in the mighty name of Jesus.
