« The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed »
11 It is the same with My word. I send it out, and It always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send It.
12 You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands!
13 Where once there were thorns, cypress trees will grow. Where nettles grew, myrtles will sprout up. These events will bring great honor to the Lord’s name; they will be an everlasting sign of His power and love.”
Understand
To fully appreciate the potency of God’s word, we need to carefully review the descriptions given to it in the Holy Scriptures.
In the Old Testament, the word of God is seen as a word about, as well as one from God.
In effect, the word of God refers to what God says and at the same time, it describes God – His essence and attributes.
The New Testament presents the Word of God as a person – the second person of the Trinity, that is, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was with the Father from the beginning of creation.
Colossians 1:16-18NKV presents the Word of God as follows
16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence
This sacred capacity of the word of God to revive is based essentially on the fact that He is the creator of all things – both in heaven and earth.
Since all things were created by His Word, the power to revive is also inherent in His word.
God spoke all things into being by the power of His word. Hebrews 4:12AMP says
« For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart »
This means that the Word is able to examine and judge those who hear it; the Word of God does not fail, but always accomplishes the set purpose.
The word of God is in fact a weapon of warfare that is able to destroy material things such as “joints and marrow” as well as the immaterial such as the “soul and spirit”.
Indeed, the total person – spirit, soul and body, comes under the operation of the Word of God.
Beloved, what is that challenge or situation that appears impossible to resolve or overcome?
The power in the Word of God can overcome it.
Find what the word says about it and pray with that word in faith as the Holy Spirit directs.
You will be victorious so long as you have genuinely surrendered your life to Jesus Christ.
Prayer focus – Father, please revive and restore me by the power in Your word, in Jesus’ name.
