« So God created human beings in His own image. In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them »
6 Instead, as it is said somewhere in the Scriptures: “What are human beings, O God, that you should think of them; mere human beings, that you should care for them?
7 You made them for a little while lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor,
8 and made them rulers over all things.” It says that God made them “rulers over all things”; this clearly includes everything. We do not, however, see human beings ruling over all things now.
« So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth »
Being created in the image of God and having dominion over everything He created is the best thing that ever happened to man.
Psalm 139:14 says we are fearfully and wonderfully made, while Hebrews 2:7 CW says
« You (God) have made humans a little lower than the angels; You have crowned them with glory and honor, and set them over the works of Your hands »
As it was in the beginning, so it is now.
Sin led to the loss of man’s original status.
As Adam and Eve short-changed themselves at the beginning by surrendering their authority to the enemy out of ignorance, so are many still doing today.
Sin turned us to servants, without authority.
We became ineffective and weak carriers of God’s image.
However, out of mercy and compassion, Jesus Christ came to clean up the mess by paying the ultimate price.
About this, Colossians 1:13-15 GNT says,
13 He rescued us from the power of darkness and brought us safe into the kingdom of his dear Son,
14 by whom we are set free, that is, our sins are forgiven.
15 Christ is the visible likeness of the invisible God. He is the first-born Son, superior to all created things.
Therefore, every human being, irrespective of color, nationality, lineage, or birth conditions, is wonderfully made with the potential for greatness.
Unfortunately, however, many are living far below their potential.
Jesus came to show us how to live in this world as carriers of God’s image so that we may follow in His footsteps. 1 John 2:6 NLT says
« Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did »
To reach our full potential in this world, we must accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, then follow His footsteps daily.
You will fulfil your glorious destiny, in Jesus’ name.
Prayer focus – Father, please help me to closely follow Your footsteps to the end, in Jesus’ name.
