Memorize: Psalm 69:5
« God, you know my faults. I cannot hide my sins from you. »
Read: Genesis 3:7-10
When Adam and Eve had eaten of the fruit God had forbidden them to eat, they realized they were naked, so they sewed fig leaves together to make clothes for themselves.
That evening, when they heard God walking in the garden, they were afraid and hid among the trees. But God called, “Where are you, Adam?”
Adam replied, “I was afraid when I heard You, so I hid because I am naked.”
How can I get rid of my feeling of guilt?
When you’ve done something wrong, you don’t want anyone to find out. You hope that somehow the guilt will just fade away. You try to cover up your sin by telling lies or pretending that nothing happened, and all the time you are afraid of being found out. The horrible feeling of guilt makes you feel sick as it chews away at your peace and joy. It’s no fun to feel this way.
The good news is that there is a way out. You can have peace in your heart again!
There is only one way to get rid of the sin in your heart and the guilt that it brings; that is to admit that you have done wrong and ask God to forgive you.
You also need to apologize to the person you wronged, and if possible, make things right.
This takes courage, but it makes your character strong and helps your friendship with others to be built on a solid foundation.
No one is perfect. We all do wrong and sin against God.
But we can live a peaceful, happy life by confessing our sin the minute we slip up!
