Memorize: Genesis 2:18

« Then the Lord God said, “I see that it is not good for the man (humans) to be alone. I will make the companion he needs, one just right for him.” »

Read: Genesis 2:18, Genesis 2:21-24

Although the day had not yet ended, Adam suddenly became sleepy. Could it be that he was exhausted from thinking of different names for all the creatures? No, God was putting him to sleep!

In fact, God made Adam sleep so well that he didn’t feel God taking out one of his ribs and closing him up again.

Then God formed a woman from the rib and brought her to Adam. When he woke up from his deep sleep, he couldn’t believe is eyes!

“At last, someone who is like me!” he exclaimed.

Now Adam had a companion—a very special person who he could talk with and be with all day long.

Does God know when I am lonely?

If you have ever been lonely, you will know what Adam must have felt like before God made Eve to be his friend and wife.

The beginning of a new year often brings changes. You may have recently moved to another town, started in a new school, or moved to a class without your best friends. It is often a time of loneliness; a time of being afraid and unsure of what to expect.

Remember that God will always be there for you.

He will never leave your side!

Although you cannot see God, you can talk to him just like Adam did.

If you long to have a special friend, ask God to help you meet someone who will enjoy the same things you do—someone who will be a loyal companion.

God knows and understands when you are lonely because He made you to need a friend, and to be a friend.
