When Jesus got to the town of Capernaum, a Roman officer came up to Him and begged for help. “Sir, my servant is sick at home and cannot move.”
“I will go and make him well,” Jesus said.
But the officer stopped Jesus. “I do not deserve to have You come into my house. Just give the order and my servant will be well again.”
When Jesus heard this, He said to the people around Him, “I have never found anyone in Israel with faith like this!” Then Jesus turned to the officer and said, “Go home, and you will find your servant well.”
Later, when Jesus arrived at Peter’s home, He found Peter’s mother-in-law sick in bed with a fever. Jesus touched her hand and the fever left her. Then she got up and started to serve them and made them feel at home.
Can my faith make someone else well?
The Bible says that when we ask God for something, we must believe in order to receive what we have asked for (Matthew 21:22). But what if a person is so sick that he cannot pray? Will God answer the prayer of a friend who prays for the sick person? Yes! Asking God to do something for a friend is as easy as asking your mom to give your friend a lift home from school.
And if the person doesn’t believe in God? There is a gap that separates an unbeliever from God. When you pray for your friend who doesn’t believe in God, it is like standing in the gap between your friend and God (see Ezekiel 22:30). As God hears your prayer of faith, His grace will flow to your friend, helping him to put his faith in God.
