The cripple who had been healed was holding on to Peter and John with joy. People rushed from all sides of the Temple porch to see the beggar who had been healed.
When Peter saw the people, he said to them,
“People of Israel, why are you so surprised? Why are you staring at us as if we made this man walk by our own power? It is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who has glorified His servant Jesus. You handed Him over to be killed, but God raised Him from the dead. The man you see here was made strong by faith in the name of Jesus.
It is in the name of Jesus that this man was healed.”
How can I glorify God?
When we think of God, we think of Him as being awesome and majestic—and He is! One would think that the only way to glorify such a great God is by doing something impressive. Yet, if that were true, those who are not very talented and don’t have much to give wouldn’t be able to glorify Him. But God notices the small things we do for Him. It is often the things that no one else notices that please God most. Do you remember the woman who gave her last few coins? (Mark 12:41-43).
If ever there was a person who had absolutely nothing to give, it was John the Baptist. Yet, he glorified Jesus by saying; “He (Jesus) must become greater; I must become less” (John 3:30).
Whenever you are obedient and allow God to use you, you magnify Him—you make Him greater in the eyes of others. Peter says that we should live such good lives that even unbelievers will see our good deeds and glorify God (1 Peter 2:12).
Every time we glorify the Lord by our actions, our words and our songs, we let God and others know that He is truly the Greatest!
