A time to flee – II

and Potiphar’s wife soon noticed Joseph. She asked him to make love to her,

but he refused and said, “My master isn’t worried about anything in his house, because he has placed me in charge of everything he owns.

No one in my master’s house is more important than I am. The only thing he hasn’t given me is you, and that’s because you are his wife. I won’t sin against God by doing such a terrible thing as this.”

10 She kept begging Joseph day after day, but he refused to do what she wanted or even to go near her.

11 One day, Joseph went to Potiphar’s house to do his work, and none of the other servants were there.

12 Potiphar’s wife grabbed hold of his coat and said, “Make love to me!” Joseph ran out of the house, leaving her hanging onto his coat.

Whatever you know or suspect will annoy God, run away from it.

For example, in Malachi 3:8-9 the Almighty God says that if you rob Him of His tithe. He would curse you.

If I were you, I would vehemently avoid a curse from God, because if God curses you Himself, who would cancel the curse?

Don’t spend God’s tithe! 1 Corinthians 6:18 ISV

  • God said if the devil comes against you, resist him and he will flee (James 4:7), but when you find someone who wants to lead you into sexual sins, don’t wait to fight, flee!

In Genesis 39:7-15, when the wife of Potiphar tried to get Joseph to commit adultery with her, the Bible says that Joseph fled.

You must flee fornication because the Bible says that when someone has been committing sin for long and God says: “This person has become an abomination; I want to destroy them”,

He will arrange for the person to commit adultery. Once they commit adultery, they will be finished. Proverbs 22:14 NLT

Therefore, whenever you are beginning to feel tempted to commit adultery or fornication, you should cry to God and say

“Lord, what have I done to become an abomination to you? Please forgive me”

then flee whatever was drawing you to sexual immorality in the first place.

It does not matter how hard it is: flee sexual sins so that you would not be destroyed.

Application – Adultery and fornication are not things to joke with at all. If you have ever done it in the past, cry to God today to forgive you.
