LOVE AND SUBMISSION IN MARRIAGE II

Read Ephesians 5:22-24GNT

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands as to the Lord.

23 For a husband has authority over his wife just as Christ has authority over the church; and Christ is Himself the Savior of the church, His body.

24 And so wives must submit themselves completely to their husbands just as the church submits itself to Christ.

We ascertained yesterday that wives are meant to be submissive to their husbands as unto the Lord (Ephesians 5:22).

However, a wife may not be submissive to her husband if the man himself is not submissive to God.

1 Corinthians 11:3 tells us that there is a chain of command to follow.

If a man has not submitted to God as the Church has submitted to Christ, then he has broken the chain and his wife may also just not submit to him.

One thing I know from Scripture is that even if a wife is the devil himself, once the husband submits to God, the wife will eventually submit to him in turn.

It is a spiritual principle. If you don’t believe me, read James 4:7 AMB

  • It says that if you submit to God, even the devil will obey you.

If you tell him “run”, he will run.

If you are a husband I know your wife cannot be worse than the devil, so definitely, if you submit to God, that woman will do the same to you.

Submitting to God also means allowing Him to guide you when it comes to relating with your spouse and following His instructions strictly.

God wants your marriage to succeed, so if you submit to and rely on Him to make it work, He will tell you what to do per time for it to be heaven on earth.

He will guide you on how to show love to your wife and also guide her on how to be submissive to you.

The above passage says that you should not lean on your own understanding.

Don’t try to get your spouse to submit to or love you with your own understanding.

Submit to God, love Him, depend on Him for direction and your marriage will indeed be blessed.

Application – Submit to God and your wife will submit to you.
